Hi! Welcome to CaroAlAparato, I'm Carolina! This week we offer to you a short post, but I hope you find it useful. We're going to talk about voice recordings. Not many people make use of them, but perhaps this is because they don't know how to record/handle them. That being said, let's get down to business!

What app can I use?

Let's start with the usual question, what app can I use?

Both in IOS and Android you will find preinstalled voice recording apps. But to make this post less repetitive, I'll use an app that is compatible with both operative systems: EasyVoiceRecorder.

If you need help to download this app you can follow this tutorial:

You will need a Google account to use Google Play, so here you have an article where we explain how to create one and we talk about what you can do with it:

EasyVoiceRecorder

Once we enter the app we will be greeted with this screen:

  • The top part says 'Record', because here we will be able to record the audios.

  • In the center we will find 'Recording1.m4a is ready to start', because we can start recording whenever we want. '.M4a' is the type of file, while 'recording1' is the name of the recording. To change the name, just tap on it and change it to whatever you want.

  • In the bottom part of the screen we can find:

  • RECORD: We're currently in this section, here we can record our audios.

  • LISTEN: Here we can listen to our recordings, search by name, delete and share these files.

  • SETTINGS.

How do I record a voice audio?

  • Go to the 'Record' section.

  • Edit the file's name if you want to.

  • Tap on the red button with a microphone to start recording. (IMPORTANT: please allow the app to use your microphone while using the app once the app requests access to it).

  • To pause the recording, tap on the red button again (it will now display the pause symbol), to resume the recording, tap on the button once again.

  • Once you're done, tap on the tick that is next to the red button.

  • If you want to cancel the recording, tap on the 'x'.

(You will find an explicative video in the next part of the post).

How do I listen to this audio? And how do I share it?

To listen to the audio:

  • Go to the 'Listen' section.

  • Select the audio you want to listen to.

  • Tap on the blue button with the 'play' symbol.

  • You can go backward/forward 5 seconds by pressing the arrows (right - go forward, left - go backward).

  • To adjust the playing speed, tap on the '1x' that you will find in the bottom right corner until you are content with the speed.

  • The symbol in the bottom left corner will allow you to activate the 'loop' function, which will allow you to replay the recording in loop.

To share your audio, tap on the three little dots that you will find next to the file's name. In the menu that will come up, tap share and choose how to share your file.

You will find these options as well:

  • DELETE

  • RENAME

  • SHARE

  • TRANSCRIBE

  • EDIT

Why are these audios useful?

For me, they can be useful for studying, filming brainstorming sessions, clearing my mind (sometimes we're flooded with thoughts, and if those thoughts can be useful, you can record them so you can 'revisit' them once your mind is more at ease), and sometimes I even film myself singing!

Plus, you can transcribe your audios, so they can also come in handy when making shopping lists.

Everyone will find a different use for them, but these are just some examples.

And that's it for today's post! I know I'm repeating myself, but if you have any questions, suggestions, or queries please let us know in the comments (or send us an email). That being said, I hope you guys have a nice week!

Bye!
